About

Background

Welcome to Forever Christmas. We originally started the radio station and blog in 2003 At that time, Internet radio was not very popular and there were few, if any, stations broadcasting. In 2002, our older sister passed away, and to honour her memroy, we decided on this format. At that time, we were one of the few stations that broadcast Christmas music available for worldwide listeners. Those were the days of home based web servers and radio station software. Yes, we too used to host the website and radio station locally on our home based servers.

A few years later, our Dad passed away and now the website and radio station are there to honour the memory of the World’s Best Dad and Big Sister. Along the way, our friends and family have all lost loved ones and this site is dedicated to everyone who has an empty spot (ore more) at the dinner table during the holiday seasion.

How can I honor my loved ones who have passed away during the holiday season?

Honoring loved ones who have passed away during the holiday season can be a meaningful way to keep their memory alive while navigating feelings of grief. Here are several thoughtful ways to pay tribute:

  1. Light a Memorial Candle: Set aside a special candle to light during your holiday celebrations. This can symbolize your loved one’s presence and serve as a reminder of their enduring light in your life.
  2. Create a Memory Ornament: Craft or purchase an ornament that represents your loved one, such as one with their photo or a symbol of something they cherished. Hang it on your tree to keep their spirit close during the festivities.
  3. Reserve a Seat at the Table: During holiday meals, save a seat for your loved one. You can place a photo or a small token on the chair to acknowledge their absence and include them in your gathering.
  4. Prepare Their Favorite Dish: Cook a dish that your loved one loved to eat or prepare during the holidays. Sharing this meal with family and friends can evoke fond memories and keep their traditions alive.
  5. Write a Tribute Letter: Express your feelings and memories in a letter to your loved one. This can be a cathartic exercise, allowing you to articulate your thoughts and emotions during this time.
  6. Host a Remembrance Gathering: Organize a gathering with family and friends to share stories and celebrate the life of your loved one. This can include lighting candles, sharing favorite songs, and reminiscing about cherished moments together.
  7. Donate to a Cause in Their Name: Consider making a donation to a charity or organization that was important to your loved one. This act of kindness not only honors their memory but also contributes to a cause they cared about.
  8. Create a Memory Book: Compile a scrapbook or digital album filled with photos, stories, and mementos that reflect your loved one’s life. This can serve as a cherished keepsake to revisit during the holidays.
  9. Participate in Charity Work: Engage in community service or charity events that align with your loved one’s values. This can be a fulfilling way to honor their memory while helping others in need.
  10. Share Memories: Take time to reflect on happy memories and stories about your loved one with family and friends. This can help keep their spirit alive and foster a sense of connection during the holiday season.
